I’m obsessed with beautiful stationery, so when I came across Blush and Gold I knew I wanted to share their fantastic designs with you. There are so many wonderful companies that can help you create your perfect suite of wedding stationery, but if you’re search has just begun, make Blush and Gold one of your first port of calls. Each design is created from scratch and can be tailored just for you, with fonts and colour combinations. I love the vibrant colours and bold modern classic designs, and have been in touch with the lovely owner and talented designer Mara, to get the low down on all things Blush and Gold.
Also, Mara has kindly offered Bonjour Bride’s a super 10% discount off all Blush and Gold stationery for a limited time – full details of this offer are at the bottom of the post.
What inspired you to start Blush and Gold?
Mara: The idea of starting Blush and Gold came about after my fiancé and I got engaged just before Christmas last year. I always knew I wanted to design my own stationery for the wedding – he had proposed to me at the Greenwich Planetarium under a sea of stars, so I started researching wedding invitations with stars for some inspiration. Although I found some beautiful invites, there just weren’t that many! So I started creating my own, but I still wasn’t totally happy, so I just kept designing more and more… and I haven’t stopped since!
I realised I was enjoying designing more than anything I’d ever done before so Blush and Gold was born! It was a very impulsive move – I had never even dreamt of having my own business… but less than six weeks after I had first had the idea, the website was launched and I’d booked my first wedding fair!
At the moment I run the company part-time whilst working as a Graphic Designer for a design agency in Birmingham. I’m very lucky that my fantastic partner can help me out with the logistics, website and social media sides of the business, so it’s not too stressful! My dream is to be able to focus on Blush and Gold full-time which I hope to be able to do soon. I would love to be able to wake up in the morning and work on our wedding stationery collections all day long!
What inspires Blush and Gold collections?
I take inspiration from many things, but in particular I really love the designer Helen Dealtry – I love her Instagram account. I admire her work and her style is so incredibly elegant and timeless. I am also a big fan of the work of Carolyn Gavin, she has a unique style that is so fluid and cheerful! The Australian magazine Frankie (also available in the UK) is a great source of inspiration too; it showcases a wide range of contemporary artists’ work including illustrators, photographers and crafters – I just love its quirky style!
Do you have a favourite design?
My favorite wedding stationery collection at the moment is our new ‘Fab Fiesta’ design. It’s our latest collection, and it’s the one that really reflects my mood at the moment. It’s very summery, colourful and full of energy! It’s a design that I’ve wanted to work on for a while, but just hadn’t found the right style for it. I took inspiration from Mexican embroidery patterns and colourful Spanish fiesta decorations. It’s a really uplifting design!
Exciting things to come…
We are in the process of launching our new line of envelope liners to match all of our collections. It’s something I have wanted to do for some time, but I found it hard to find the right manufacturers to bring them to life. Now we’ve found the right suppliers (that can do the job to the high standard that we expect) we’re thrilled! Matching envelope liners are great addition to our collections as they’ll really complete the look for couples. We are also in the process of testing a line of pocket-fold options for our invites and RSVP cards so keep an eye on our website!
Fully customisable and bespoke designs
All of our designs are designed from scratch, and are therefore very customisable. We can change the colours of most designs to suit the couple’s colour scheme, and of course we can change the text and fonts. We like to work closely with the couple in order to tailor our designs to their specifications and we also offer a bespoke service for truly unique stationery!
If I have a clear idea in mind of what a design will look like, it takes me around two days from conception to print. I’ll normally design the whole stationery collection (including save the date cards, RSVP cards, menus, table numbers, etc.) at the same time.
I could have filled this post will photos of all the lovely designs available from Blush and Gold, but that’s what the website is for, so go take a look.
